MONBIJOU
Monbijou theater is a free independent stage placed since 1999 at the old royal Monbijou park, just facing the Museum Island, in the “Mitte” of Berlin. This favourable location of the theatre just enhances its own magic atmosphere.
They started as a group in 1994, playing and living together in a squad at Prenzlauer Berg. They moved and started to build and stage here in 1999.
The familiar community of actors, dress-makers and theatre technicians give several shows every day; most of the plays, Shakespeare and Grimm´s fairy tales.
OPEN-AIR AMPHITHEATER
In 2008 they built the wooden amphitheater with Shakespeare inspiration, where today open air plays, take place during the summer.
INDOOR THEATER
Indoor performances run inside polish wooden houses, 200-year-old. During the wintertime is burning a fire place behind them, to warm the interacts.
THE STRANDBAR
