Many big cities face the problem of disproportional development due to various reasons, but for Berlin situation is especially complicated because the city was artificially divided into 2 parts for 30 years. The traces of it still remain in some districts of Berlin. For example Marzahn area which is perceived as a place for the poor and people from challenging backgrounds. In order to eradicate this perception and improve life conditions for the locals the organization called “Neighborhood Management” works with differentsocial groups and tries to encourage citizens to be actively involved in Marzahn life. Activists establish and maintain links among the city government, NGOs and Berliners to give everyone a voice and bring understanding for the better future of the community.
